Description

An orthoimage is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and sensor orientation have been mathematically removed. Orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. Aerial survey of the 5-county, Pennsylvania portion DVRPC’s region. Orthophotos serve a variety of purposes, from interim maps to field references for earth science investigations and analysis. Digital orthophotos are useful as a layer within a geographic information system (GIS) and as a tool for the creation or revision of other GIS data layers.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy

The horizontal accuracy standard follows the NSSDA-1998 standard. The maximum permissible RMSE for 95% of the horizontal check points for the mapping product is 5 feet or better.
